    SPCC Health Update 01/14/22

    Members,

The Pandemic Guidance Committee and Board of Directors met in the last 24 hours to review Mayor Carter’s Executive Order 2022-4.   After lengthy discussion, the Board’s interpretation is that all areas of SPCC are indeed governed under this order.   In turn, the following policies will go into effect on the dates indicated:

    Effective Immediately

    • Masking and sweeping policies sent to membership on January 7th, 2022 remain unchanged.

Effective January 19th, 2022 (vaccination/negative test requirement was rescinded on February 14, 2022)

    • Proof of a Completed Vaccination Series or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken not more than seventy-two (72) hours prior to arrival at the Club shall be required for entry to the building.
      • Completed Vaccination Series means two weeks following completion of any CDC approved vaccination series, including: • A 2-dose series of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or • A single-dose COVID-19 vaccine (Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine).
      • Proof of a completed vaccination series against COVID-19 means presentation of a CDC-provided card, photograph of card, other government-approved record of vaccination, or an application approved by a governmental entity (e.g. Docket) to hold immunization information.
      • A negative COVID-19 test means an email, printout or screen shot with the name of the individual and the test result showing the date of the test in conjunction with any photo identification that includes a photograph and name of the individual. A photo identification is not required for individuals under the age of 18. At-home tests do not meet this requirement.
      • No exceptions will be made for religious or medical reasons.   Per the Mayor, the testing option has been made available for this purpose.
      • Junior curlers under the age of 5 are exempt from this policy.
      • This policy, if not sooner rescinded or later extended by the Mayor of St. Paul, shall expire at the end of forty (40) days after January 19, 2022 or at the end of the declared local emergency to which it relates, whichever occurs first.
    • The Club will be open only to members and staff.   Non-member subs, spectators, and guests are no longer permitted in the building until further notice.
      • An exception shall be made for one (1) chaperone per junior curler, however SPCC respectfully asks that chaperones only enter the building if necessary for the safety and security of the junior.   Such chaperones shall follow then-current SPCC COVID policies at all times.

How to Submit Proof of Vaccination

    • To help ease the burden on our management staff, we are asking all skips to assemble proofs of vaccination from their team and submit via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..   Please submit this information by Tuesday, January 18th.  This will allow our managers to check off entire teams so that you can enter the club seamlessly for your next league game.   Those that have not submitted proof of vaccination prior to arrival at the Club will be checked at the door upon entry.   This may lead to delays getting into SPCC so please help our process by submitting your vaccination information electronically as soon as possible.    Note: The West door will be the only way into the building for at least the first week the mandate is in effect.
    • If your team plans not to curl under this policy, please advise management as soon as possible so they can make best efforts to reorganize games for teams that do wish to play.

In the Mayor’s press conference yesterday he was outspoken about the fact that these provisions are intended to help St. Paul businesses stay open.   That is what we intend to do so we appreciate your cooperation.   If you are uncomfortable in the Club for any reason, it is perfectly acceptable to take some time off in the current environment.   I hope each member will weigh the risks of being out in public and make a personal decision about attending SPCC just as you would any other venue.

We realize this will impact each member differently and that some teams may choose not to play league games for the next few weeks.   That's understandable given this turbulent environment.   We handled last year’s mandates quite well, so I want to thank you in advance for your cooperation navigating this new policy.   As always, I am available if you have any questions or concerns.

    Regards,

    Erik Ordway

    President
