In lieu of recent events, the SPCC Pandemic Guidance Committee and SPCC Board of Directors met to review our policies and determine if any changes are necessary at this point in time. Part of this process included conversations with leadership of other clubs where there have been outbreaks of COVID-19. The individuals we spoke with were kindly willing to share what they believe did and did not help mitigate the spread of infections within their facilities.
After careful review, the SPCC Board of Directors is implementing the following policies effective immediately:
- All unvaccinated members, guests, and staff MUST wear a mask at all times within SPCC while on the ice, in the clubroom, locker rooms, etc. This is a clarification of the previously used MDH language that was less specific.
- Bonspiel chairpeople are now authorized to set COVID protocols for participants as they see fit, including vaccination mandates, mask mandates, occupancy limits, etc.
These changes are in addition to previously posted policies available at SPCC Covid Protocols 2021-22
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, we are requesting that ALL members and guests, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks when not curling, eating, or drinking. This includes the locker rooms, changing areas, main floor clubroom, and any time you are upstairs not seated at a table. Guidance from our fellow clubs indicates that these were the areas of likely transmission, so you can help SPCC mitigate the risk to other members by cooperating with this request. Hopefully this will be a short term inconvenience that can be tapered when conditions in MN improve.
Thank you for your continued patience in these turbulent times. We’re all in this together and with your help we can continue what’s already been a homecoming season.
Respectfully,
St. Paul Curling Club Board of Directors
